Pausora (“we”, “us”, “the app”) is a mindful-breaks app developed by an independent developer based in Portugal. We built Pausora with privacy as a first-class concern: the app does not require an account, does not sell your data, and works fully offline for its core functionality.

This policy explains what data Pausora processes, why, and the choices you have.

1. What we collect

1.1 On your device (never leaves it, unless you enable iCloud sync)

  • Break history and streaks — timestamps of completed breaks, counts by type (eye/stretch/breathing), current and best streaks. Stored locally in the app’s UserDefaults and, if you use iCloud on your Apple ID, mirrored via Apple’s iCloud Key-Value Store to your other Apple devices. We never see this data.
  • Your preferences — theme, language, sound and haptics settings, streak goal, reminder schedule, HealthKit toggle. Stored locally.

1.2 Optional integrations you explicitly enable

  • Apple Health (HealthKit) — if you enable “Record to Apple Health”, each completed break is written to your Apple Health app as a Mindful Minutes session. The data lives entirely inside Apple Health under your control. We never read from Apple Health and never receive its contents.
  • Notifications — reminders are scheduled locally on your device. No push server is used. We do not receive information about which notifications you dismiss.

1.3 Anonymous usage data (only if you consent)

During onboarding you are asked whether Pausora may collect anonymous usage data. You can change this decision anytime in Settings → Advanced → Privacy. If you consent, we collect:

  • Firebase Analytics (Google) — anonymous events such as “break started”, “streak goal reached”, “theme changed”, “stats viewed”. No content, no personal identifiers. Firebase generates an app-instance identifier that is not linked to you personally and can be reset by reinstalling the app. IDFA (advertising identifier) is not collected — the Google IDFA module is not included in the app.
  • Firebase Crashlytics (Google) — crash reports with technical stack traces, iOS version, device model. Used solely to fix bugs.

Both categories can be turned off in the app; when off, no data is sent to Google.

1.4 If you contact us

If you use “Contact developer” in the app, your default mail client opens a pre-filled email to hello@pausora.app. The body includes diagnostic info (app version, iOS version, language) so we can help you. This email is sent by you, from your own mail client — Pausora does not send it, and does not retain a copy of what you write.

2. What we do NOT collect

  • No account, no name, no login
  • No email address (unless you write to us)
  • No advertising identifier (IDFA)
  • No location, contacts, photos, microphone, or camera
  • No web browsing history
  • No content of your text, notes, or files
  • No data is sold or shared for advertising

3. Third-party services

We have no other third-party integrations. No analytics beyond Firebase. No advertising SDKs.

4. Your rights (GDPR / EEA users)

Because we operate from Portugal (EU), everything below applies to all users regardless of location.

  • Right to opt out of analytics — Settings → Advanced → Privacy → Share anonymous usage data
  • Right to delete your data — you can reset all statistics inside the app (Settings → Advanced → Data → Reset statistics), or delete the app itself (removes all local data)
  • Right to portability — Settings → Advanced → Export as JSON / CSV
  • Right to access, rectification, restriction — write to hello@pausora.app
  • Right to lodge a complaint — you may contact your local Data Protection Authority; in Portugal that is CNPD

We aim to reply to any privacy request within 14 days.

5. Data retention

  • Local data on your device is retained until you reset statistics or delete the app.
  • iCloud data follows your iCloud account settings; you control it in Apple Settings.
  • Firebase Analytics data is retained by Google according to their default policy (14 months for user-level data by our settings). Aggregated anonymous data may be retained longer.
  • Firebase Crashlytics retains crash reports for 90 days.

6. Children

Pausora is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has interacted with the app, please contact us and we will assist.

7. Security

Data on your device is protected by iOS sandboxing and encryption on the device. Data sent to Firebase is transmitted over TLS. We do not store passwords because Pausora has no login.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect new features or legal requirements. Material changes will be announced inside the app before they take effect. The “Effective date” at the top will always reflect the current version.
